I have read that contamination of power steering fluid from internally deteriorating rubber hoses can cause steering rack seals to leak.

The steering rack remanufacturers usually recommend installing an inline power steering fluid filter. I've used these:

The one from AutoZone came permanently sealed. The MagnaX filter from Pep Boys screwed together, but the seal didn't work and it leaked badly.
RockAuto is showing power steering pressure hoses out of stock.
Which is a bigger problem causing leaks--rubber particle contamination or poor quality remanufacturing?
Various setups, tips, etc.
