D16a1 Valve Cover Plates Poll

Postby chedda_j » January 16th, 2013, 2:27 am

I will be cnc cutting these plates on Thursday and I need every ones vote before I go ahead and cut them. The plates fit the Browntop/Blacktop d16a1. The plates will be offered in a few different options.

They will be offered in the following finishes, plain aluminum and powder coated. They will be offered without the logo as well for who ever doesn't want the super sweet CHEDDASAUTO logo.

Prices are subject to change but will be right around $40 for unfinished and $100 for powdercoated. Color choices are blue, red, black, and white. The item will have rounded edges like the second photo.

I vote without holes. I like the clean flat plate look.

Why would the cover be different for the browntop or blacktop D16A1? Arent they the same valve cover, just different color? Reason I ask is I have the JDM Honda one and before I order one, want to make sure it would fit :)

Love the covers by the way, and I like the ones without holes too.

We figured out the brown and black tops will have the same covers.

Why not a cover that prominently displays G1teg.org??

I can get the plates done with a G1teg image, just like the one that Jason Mako did for the battery tie down concept that I will be producing. The only problem with that is we need to work out a group effort for special things like that because of engraving set up fees. 5 with that logo on the big flat one, would be around $110 rather than $100, if we did 10 pcs it would be $105ish.

Sorry about the confusion of the browntop/blacktop thing, a bird told me they were different, he was confused and thought a black top was a newer ZC DOHC.

Holeless it is. The best thing is that its not very hard to modify the plates to add holes via hole saw.

They are on their way, and will be here Feb 2nd.

just out of curiosity, I know a lot of people make covers for b series vtec, and there are even a couple companies that make them for obd2 b series non vtec, would you be willing to entertain making an obd1 b series non vtec cover?

looking great, though not sure about that pink one but each their own!

looking at your posts on rpr http://www.redpepperracing.com/forums/i ... opic=54904 the covers sit a bit high for my liking. Are you able to mould them to look like hte B16 below, where the plate sits a bit further "in" in the valve cover?

Not really no, with the design of the cover, the plate has to sit high to clear the plugs cables.
