What to see in Portland???

Postby Biscuit » March 19th, 2014, 10:09 am

My Mom will be in Portland Oregon next week and I am here asking what she should see while she is there.
I know that she will go to Jimi Hendrix' grave site in Renton and maybe go to Seattle.
What is some cool stuff to see?

My daughter absolutely loves Portland. I'll Facebook her and see what she recommends. Maybe drop the agenda on your Facebook page? :D

This might be a little far south but I'd recommend Crater Lake National Park if she's into scenic stuff. It's the remnants of a collapsed stratovolcano that has formed a caldera with a lake on top. It'd be a day trip from Portland.
I haven't spent much time in Portland so I can't really give many suggestions on that city. But since she's visiting Seattle she might want to take a look at the Experience Music Project (I believe they have a Jimi Hendrix exhibit), Pacific Science Center, as well as the Pike Place Market.

While she's visiting Hendrix's lavish gravesite. Tell her (if she has any interest) that near his site is a modest site for one of the worlds most revered men, Bruce Lee. His son Brandon is buried next to him.

If she is into aviation the Evergreen Aviation Museum is AWESOME! but it's in McMinville, OR.

I've been to several places on that list. I'd have her review the list and then pick and choose, it's a good list.
Waterfront park is nice in the evening too, have a nice dinner at a nice restaurant.
In the future, everything will work.

The daughter reported in with this- - - "I recommend distillers row on the eastside, powell's books, the little Irish restaurant down the street from voodoo donuts and the Portland library." :D
