What parts can you still get from Acura

Postby KRoundy » December 3rd, 2013, 10:47 pm

I'm on a quest for a coolant reservoir and on a whim I called the dealer. Nope. None in stock, none available anywhere. Off to the PuP I go.

But, this quest made me wonder - what can you get from an Acura dealer for a G1 Teg these days? Since I've had my car here is the extensive list of OEM parts I've purchased for my 1988 Teg from the parts room of a dealership filled with $40K-plus shiny new Acuras:

Muffler
Chrome Exhaust Tips
Brake and Clutch Pedal Covers

That's it. Anybody else have a story to share about what we can still buy from Acura? I've heard rumors that seat belts are a lifetime thing (unconfirmed). Anything else? (oil filters and the like do not count)

I've bought from Acura:
Timing Belts - apparently they're discontinued now
Timing tensioners - also apparently discontinued
Valve cover gasket set
Oil pan gasket
Engine bearings - many are discontinued
Thrust washer
Honda Bond
Idle screw
Fuel cap
Tranny differential seals
Pedal covers
Dead pedal cover - discontinued, I got one of the last from Vintage
Tried to get radius arms but those are discontinued.
Timing tensioner spring is also discontinued
Shift rod boot
Throttle body gasket
EICV figure 8 gasket
Distributor/cas o-rings
Oil cooler inlet & outlet hoses
Lower shift assembly dust boot

You might have to harass the dealership to get them replaced. They do come with a lifetime warranty however. The buckles are also under a recall if your red button cracks and falls into the assembly. Had my drivers side belt replaced as well as the passenger side buckle, all for FREE!!

Nice! My driver's side belt is getting quite frayed. I need to try this at a dealership sometime. Maybe I should go in while wearing one of my suits, sit in a few TL's and then say, "So, will you replace the seat belt in my 1988 Integra?"

I had my seat belts swapped out two years ago because of Honda's lifetime warranty. They quit locking when you would use the brakes. You will have to fight to get them to do it. It took threats of a lawsuit before Lynnwood Acura would do it for me.

im suprised you guys can still get brake/clutch pedal covers from the dealer, something like that you can probly still get in the help section at pepboys.
the only thing i know i can still get at the acura dealer is a free soda from the machine in the waiting room, the last thing i got from the dealer was colder spark plugs awhile ago(had them shipped from japan, yay!).
