Postby MinkelR » March 1st, 2013, 8:06 am

Figured I'd bring this back. What did y'all do to or with your teg?

I did a once over on all the fluids and installed a new drivers bottom seat cover from Robert. Thanks! :D

Went very well. Just have to watch out during uninstallation of the old cover not to tear the anchors for the side bolsters out of the foam. Little tricky putting them back on too. Everything else is just removing, disassembling the seat and pulling all them little rings off.

New tires two days ago!!!
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in the factory size.
So far, I am very impressed with these tires.

I wanted Bridgestone Potenza RE 960s' again but they stopped making them for a 14" wheel. :-(

I bought the same tires a while back. Awesome tires. They were a little squirmy around corners but that stopped after a few hundred miles.

I miss my Potenza's. I got some off-brand tires last year and can't wait for them to wear down. I'll go for the Michelin's next time. We should start a petition to Bridgestone.

Today - I decided to fix my head gasket and keep my Integra!

Ryan,
I've been thinking of paying a friend of Robert's (Martin) to do the job for me as I don't have the time - and I particularly don't have the garage space as my boat project is taking up 95% of my man cave. How big/difficult a job is it? What else should I consider doing while I have everything completely apart?

Electric is also the same mounting points and connectors.

A head gasket is a decent amount of work. I'd grab some ARP head studs and a Beck/Arnley head gasket. Check to make sure the head and block are still level. Also if your water pump and timing belt are coming due it would be a good idea to knock those out.

Thanks Ryan. Noticed my injectors are leaky yesterday too. I need to figure out what to about that. Robert mentioned that Honda used one type of injector for a ton of different cars. Anybody know something about that?

I picked some up from a 96 accord and sent them into witchhunter in Bothell to be cleaned and leak tested. Come back with all new seals and a before/after flow test sheet. Nice peace of mind if you have the extra cash.

Mind posting what the cost of the injectors were, from I'm guessing P&P, and the cost of WitchHunters cleaning? I'd be inclined to do this if I knew. 8-)

I drove my freshly fixed Teg into work today. First time I've done so in two months. It was awesome! The Blue Rocket has a fresh timing belt and water pump. Head was machined perfectly flat and a new head gasket installed. Put a new Honda thermostat in for good measure too. All work performed by a pro that my good friend Robert (you know, the crazy guy over by that lake with all the Tegs) did not steer me wrong once again.

Next up: injectors and that energy suspension upgrade that I really want to do, and I also really should install the SE side skirts I purchased from Danny a couple of years ago.

I had probably a good 4 inches of play at the end of my wiper. I just grabbed one from the junk yard.

Yeah. I replaced the gasket not too long ago. It must be leaking around the lens somehow. I just put 3 small holes through the black plastic underneath the lens. That should at least keep the water from building up.

I obtained some 1/8" thick closed cell foam and felt penned the outline and openings. I just crosscut the fastener location instead of cutting those small holes. IRCC, Danny at NWClassic Honda has the leftover roll of the material. Might want to contact him as I think he pre-cut a few sets. Othewise, a foam supply store might have what you need. :ugeek:

Stock, cleaned and non-leaking. Anything else that would fit our manifolds would require a newer ecu to run, so then it becomes, "is the 1-3 HP worth the trouble or should I just swap the engine to something worth boosting or turbo."

Woot!!! What a nice afternoon. Barely get home and clamber out of the 3g coupe when the neighbor runs, yes, runs over waving an envelope. Has me sign over the title to the 99.9% complete SE. Need to re-clean the engine, then drive it across the street. Then a guy named Rob drove over, not more than 30 minutes later, drools over and then buys the 89 black LS coupe for my asking price. Starting to get that NW Classic Honda karma that Danny feels. I've never before sold two cars until now. Feels damn fine. Going to head out after work and buy this years fishing license then start the trans replacement on the white fishing pole holder. 8-)

Did a basic tune up on the 89... Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and air filter. Getting it ready to be smogged since its due next month. Found oil on #1 and #2 spark plugs :-( Compression test said 80,90,180,190. May be time for a head gasket.

Also changed the oil on the turbo se. Didnt realize it was so nasty! Also replaced a tail light bulb holder thingy. Had problems with the light randomly not working. Turns out the bulb holder had a slightly melted contact. Replaced it with one from some spare tails I have laying around. Replaced the rear speakers too cause they were older and not sounding too good.
