my 89 LS Codename: Thunderhorse

Postby ATL89LS » February 9th, 2013, 1:57 am

Now that the g1teg forum has re-emerged from the underworld (really missed you guys) and my old threads have disappeared i feel i should update everyone on my progress. as some of you may or may not know about three years ago my dear dear 89 2D LS hatch's died at the age of 260k miles. i've currently have got the engine and trans separated from the car except the mounts and am ready to pull them as soon as i have the time and an extra set of hands. hopefully, in less than a year i will be able to purchase a 2nd gen ZC engine trans combo, redo all suspension, exhaust system, and some other random stuff to get it on the road (2-3k worth of repairs). afterwards i will be fixing cosmetic stuff (another 2-3k in repairs and parts). i would love to hear suggestions on parts and stuff, just keep in mind i am not going overboard on the upgrades. currently my goal is a nice car with a little more power than it started with and improved handling while still sticking to the late 80's early 90's feel. I also want to keep my OBD 0, after working on my 98 civic i really want to keep it simple.
i do want the stock:
-rear hatch fin cover (89)
-side skirts and spoiler (89 SE)
-front and rear bumper lips (89)
-front and rear mud flaps (89)
-wheels 15 or 16 no bigger (still deciding but i Do want saw tooth style)

other things are still being decided so suggest away but not planning on lowering unless i have to and no super chargers or turbo or vtecs (not supposed to be a showcar or a racer, this is my car, my chariot, a little piece of my past i was able to keep) cant wait to hear your guys's input! and congrats on you return to the net !!

this is not the most recent picture but you can get an idea of what i am working with.

There is no 89 rear bumper lip and front mud gaurds dont work with the SE sideskirts. Just saying.

i knew about the lip but i didn't even really think about the flaps not fitting, thanks for bringing it up.
i plan on modifying the front lip to fit the rear bumper (it's more of an experiment idea i'm not totally committed to this). i just looked at some pics of MinkelR's teg, since his is the first good pics off the top of my head that i know that has with and without front flaps and side skirts, and i can see how they wouldn't fit. however, just like the lip idea ill try to modify the flaps to fit. i really like the 80's feel and functionality of the flaps but i like the skirts better so i would drop the flap if i couldn't get it to work.

Somewhere I heard CB7 Accord flaps fit the front with SE skirts. I might be dreaming though.
