My 1986 RS

Postby VAPRAI » January 2nd, 2013, 6:46 pm

No 86 RS pics yet so I figured I would put some up.

Original Owner. Purchased new August 2, 1986.
OEM Honda louvers installed by the dealer. Everything came out just over $10k back then.
Have kept it in meticulously good shape from day one. Warm weather climate really helps!

The only major modification was replacing the stock airbox with the Weapon-R intake.
Other than that things are pretty much stock.

Wow clean car! Put that factory air box back in and use a K&N drop in filter. That car is to cherry to mod.

Holy original owner batman! Very nice... Does it make you nervous having that intake pipe so close to the positive terminal?

I still have the factory airbox and everything in case I ever want it back to stock. The Weapon-R intake solves a bunch of problems I have had while driving in the summer. Days where it is over 110. Venturi pipe works wonders.

It's the negative. Battery had to be flipped 180 degrees.

Very nice shape. Have you had it repainted? I think the only other person here who bought one when they came out was evtsteward.

If I had to guess I'd say 261,711.6 miles ;)

It was actually repainted while still under warranty. Around 1990 I think. The factory paint started to flake off after a couple years and was really getting bad. There were rumors that the paint Honda was using in some batches was of very low quality. The shop I used was able to get some really high quality stuff (possibly leaded paint) that has held up like a champ.

I have also been using the Meguiars Quick Wax and Quick Detailer since then. Still looks fresh and shiny.

Absolutely beautiful car and awesome that you're the original owner. Keep it as OEM as you can!

If you look at the original post, he said it was installed by the dealer as OEM, many years ago I assume.

But very nice car. Super clean. I wish I lived in Arizona for my cars looking that clean!
