converting bumpers

Postby 247christian » June 11th, 2013, 7:32 pm

So i have an 89 rs and honestly i dont really like the front end. I like the 86-97 front better so im planning on switching bumpers soon. question is though the 88-89 bumpers have fogs and a turn signal in them while the 87 just has the turn signal light... so would i have to swap harnesses?? or just not connect 2 lights?? i know spunkster did this and i send him a message but i know he's a busy man so it might be a while before i hear back from him. Any tips or help would be really appreciated thanks guys

Just don't connect the two parking lights. You'll also need the bumper beam and bumper beam mounts that bolt to the unibody.

I wouldn't bother with the harness swap unless when you're pulling the 87 version and they are there. Other than that, you will need to use the two 87 strut pieces and the metal cross bar. The spacing for the cover attach holes is too different and won't work on the 89 as won't the clip on top where the upper plastic slides into. That's the part that's covered by the black trim attached to the radiator support. :geek:
