Engine internals list for turbo build

Its about time I start getting a list together of the parts I will need to rebuild my engine for a little more power. I would really like peoples opinions on this as this will be my first bigger power build. I plan on buying the parts and having a machine shop assemble the engine for me just for peace of mind. Im going to start with engine internals. I will get to the turbo, fuel pump, and other external parts later on. My main focus right now is getting the engine itself built.

So heres my list so far...
Crank - OEM
Bearings - ACL
Rods - Eagle
Pistons - JE
Piston Rings - ?
Head Gasket - Cometic
Valves - Supertech
Valve Guides - OEM
Valve Guide Seals - Supertech
Springs/Retainers - Supertech
Cams - Bisimoto (Lvl.1.2)
Cam Gears - Bisimoto

That is a simple yet fantastic idea. Why didnt I think of that lol.

Im not really a fan either, Ive heard mixed opinions on them. I already have the cams and gears though (came with the car) so I would like to reuse them. I like how they perform and sound at idle.

I would go with OEM bearings as they are better than ACL.

Those are actually the 2 things I forgot to list. ARP bolts and a s300. I think there's a s300 version 2 now isn't there?

yeah there is a newer s300, but it does the same thing as the older version.

You may want to consider just doing a B-series swap instead as it will be more cost efective and you have more aftermarket support with a B. Also a stock B-series in good condition will easily handle 300hp under boost when tuned properly.

I thought about that but I'm a die hard fan of the a1. People don't expect it to be a dohc d series under the hood.

be prepared to spend a lot more trying to make it handle the same amount of power a stock b-series can make.

if you whord parts and get lucky like i do you can get sum good parts really cheap and build your own turbo kit. and if you havent found out what the best rings for weisco pistons are i can ask my friend who works there...i good thing about livin in cleveland

Got a hook up on some je pistons, eagle rods, and ARP bolts for 600. I'm waiting on a part number for the pistons to see what I have to do to get the compression back up after installing them. I'm told it'll be around 9:1 but from what I've read it'll be much lower. Guy planned on using them in the teg I bought from him but he sold me the car instead.

Also think I'm gonna go with Neptune rtp for tuning rather than an s300.

are they pistons made for a sohc? if so the easy way to bring the compression back up is to get a set of custom length rods made, since ull be gettin new ones anyway i presume. im goin cheap and gettin a set of vitera pistons for an sohc wit fjr custom length rods.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm pretty sure they're sohc though.

well if you can get a part number off of them you can probably figure out what motor their for and with that you can use one of the conversion tables out there to figure out what ur compression ratio would be using those pistons. once you know that you can find out the length ull need for your rods, or try and look up the vitera piston and fjr custom lenth rod kits and get rods made the same length. this is all depending on many other variables but it can give you a starting point

Yea that was my plan. Im trying to stay away from the vitara and fj rod combo. Want to go forged so I have the reliability. I plan on using the car as a daily driver once its done and I dont want to worry about it not lasting a while.

i figure if she blows...she blows lol....a good tune should keep it somewhat reliable im hoping. plus i have a daily as well
